In response to the Japanese government's 2050 Carbon Neutrality Declaration, the Japan Carbon
Fiber Manufacturers Association has compiled the ``Carbon Fiber Sustainability Vision
2050,'' which outlines the direction the industry should take and the vision for the year up
to 2050.
Although carbon fiber does not emit a small amount of CO2 during the
material manufacturing stage, it is a material that can significantly reduce CO2
emissions during the customer use stage. The Carbon Fiber Manufacturers Association has been
promoting the fact that carbon fiber is an environmentally friendly material through life
cycle assessment (LCA) activities that evaluate the total environmental impact of carbon
fiber from its manufacture to use and disposal. Meanwhile, we promoted demonstration
research on carbon fiber recycling in order to reduce CO2 emissions during carbon
fiber manufacturing. These results have led to the commercialization of each
company.
